Handy Sandy, Drywaller

Hello! Handy Sandy here! Today we are tackling a project that has been lingering on the To Do list for... months... maybe even a couple of years. It's going to need a vacuum cleaner and I am a certified vacuum supervisor (the only safe place is on top of the vacuum)...

Here's our project. Just looks like a cold air return vent, right? Hah! We don't have a furnace... just electric baseboard heating sooo... what's behind Grate #1?

This mess... you see, a few... **cough**... years ago when the fireplace was redone, the electrician had to cut a hole in the wall to fish electrical wire up from the breaker panel downstairs and... voila... big hole in drywall. But we are going to fix that... today!

First... we installed some wooden blocking behind the wall to which we can fasten the drywall patch... and we also used Tuck Tape to patch up the vapour barrier which had been cut...

 See... fireplace... nice!

Then we need some drywall... we keep a few pieces around the house...

After a bit of utility knife work, we got it to fit!

Now... we just need the drywall tape...

It's somewhere in the tool closet... likely in that box...

I know... most people have a tool shed or a workshop or... something... we have a tool closet... sigh...

Let's see... mesh tape...

I have to say, this is a junk box if I ever saw one!

Ah! Mesh tape? No... duct tape... the real duct tape stuff... even though we have no ducts...

Ah hah!!!! Mesh tape!

Maybe I should get Mama to do a too closet organization project?

There we go... mesh tape on the seams... now we just need...

Drywall mud... sigh... back to the tool closet.

Oh dear...

Some humans don't clean up after themselves... Anyhow, where is the drywall mud?

Up here somewhere? Are you sure??? Goodness... more tape up here... maybe the tape could all be kept in one spot??? Mud... mud... oh mud... where are you?

To be continued...
