I am rummaging around behind the old desktop computer trying to find the monitor cable beause...
We got a new desktop!!! Ooohh.... ahhhh... except we didn't get a new monitor so we are trying to do the switcheroo of getting stuff installed on the new one... and then going back and getting stuff off the old one.
It's a Dell... the old one is a Dell too... they are good computers...
The old one is... ahem... 11 years old! I think that's older than me... sheesh!
But... we noticed when it arrived that it had no internal DVD drive... so we had to get an external DVD drive so we could install MS Office...
Mama's been postponing this set-up of the new computer because it can be such a hassle!
OK... I've got the monitor cable finally... but do you see... it's a pin connector... Pretty standard I think except...
This new one has no pin connector thingie!!! What the heck... sigh... luckily the monitor had an HDMI port so we cannibalized an HDMI cable from the television set-up (until we can buy one) and... voila... we are in business!
Now... we just need to install all our programs...
I've been tasked with finding the MS Office 2016 disk... it's in here somewhere...
And the printer disks... and scanner discs... huh... is it discs or disks?? It would appear that disks is more American and discs is more British... I wonder what we prefer in Canada? Apparently we are more disc people although I think I am comfortably bilingual with this one...
This is the list of things to install... Chrome... Firefox... Dropbox... Kindle... Kobo... the list goes on.
Mama is seriously questioning this new desktop computer business!
One good thing... we have a super new shiny keyboard where you can see all the letters!
This is the old keyboard... it is beary well used... see no "E" or "A" OR "S" or "C"... and "N" and "M" are fading too....
Mama's partner is a "hunt & peck" typist and was always grumbling about the old keyboard.
And now... we are waiting for Dropbox to synchronize... just walk away and wait... that's the best way...
