Off to London!!

Hullo!!! After a beary, beary long hiatus (thanks to you, Covid-19) we are finally going on a trip to London (the England version... not the Canadian version).

We used some reward points so we had to connect in Calgary... but still had to check in crazy early at home. That's Ok... we got some blogs organized.

Our plane is here... and we are getting ready to board!

It's pretty socked in here.

But not as bad as Calgary! They had a big dump of snow several days ago that delayed flights a LOT! Glad we missed that bit.

See... Alberta is a cold and snowy wasteland.

Brrr... glad I don't have to go outside!

We used to fly out of here when we lived here... let's see how the airport is looking!

Some parts are still the same but they have done a LOT of expansion and we got a bit confused at spots...

We also had two lounge vouchers to use up! We've never been in a real airport lounge... it was pretty snazzy...

There was free drinks and food!

Lots of places to sit and plugs with free wifi too!

But we could only get in 3 hours before our flight boarded and we had 6 hours here... well, at least the last 3 hours were nice...

And just because we know Jerry will ask... yes, they had free desserts too! Chocolate brownies and banana loaf...

Finally, we got to board our flight!!

We're gonna have to get our wings de-iced before we leave...

For the longest time, the two seats next to us were empty but... in the end, someone sat in the aisle seat. Still, the middle seat stayed empty which was nice.

We ate a bit. And read a bit. And dozed a bit... and it actually went pretty quick... we're almost over Ireland!

That's it down there!!

We got our luggage and went through passport control (automated kiosk) and... boop!! We are in London! That's a beary nice welcome sign!

Now we're waiting for the Piccadilly Line, which had long delays due to an earlier "trespass" on the tracks. That's Tube-speak for... someone fell on the tracks. We learned later that they were OK.

We also learned later that we could have taken the Elizabeth Line which is new since we were here last. It's more like a "real" train, but costs more and would have been a longer bus ride... We are pooped!!!

More later...

Road Trip (with pics!)

Hullo bears and not-a-bears! I have my sekretarial glitches sorted out... As Jerry & Ben said, sometimes you have to be patient with humans. Anyhow... we are on a road trip. I made sure we had some food to eat on the trip. These are some of the grapes and tomatoes from our garden...

And blackberries from up the street. I haven't been able to find a honey supplier yet sooo...

The truck is pretty empty for this trip so I have lots of room to romp around the back...

Are we there yet?

Not quite... this is the ferry terminal. I forgot, we have to take a ferry to go anywhere! I think I'll take a nap...

When I woke up... we were in Calgary! That was a quick trip. Apparently we came here to pick up a bunch of our gardening stuff... but we also went out of town to visit some friends and chill for a bit.

This is like a summer resort where people can have a trailer or mobile home... they all drive around in little golf carts.

Hmmm... and have a sense of humour apparently!

Ooh the apples are getting ripe here. We don't have an apple tree back home but I saw one hanging over a fence so that's fair game, right?

OK, so some hammocks are dangerous for little bears!

Whoa... we are going on a boat??? Really?? So cool!

I hope they have little bear-sized life jackets...

Is it going to be a sailboat??

Or a sea-doo??

Nope... it's going to be a souped-up power boat!

I think this is going to be fun!!

Although the life jackets are not quite bear-sized. But in this case it didn't really matter because the motor-boat had teknical difficulties, so we had to get out and go to another friend's boat.

And it's a sailboat!!

This is where I could really use a bunch of deck hands! There are so many ropes and things to pull on...

Ahhh... this is the life of a little bear...

Just call me sailor bear!

Road Trip

Hullo!! I am on a road trip!! Whoo-hoo!!! We left home a few days ago on the ferry...

(picture should be here but is missing)

And drove through all the way to my old home in Calgary!

(another picture missing)

...

(raised bear eyebrows)

... wait a minute...

What do you mean picture missing???

Hmm... I interrupt this posting early due to teknical sekretarial glitches... Apparently Mama didn't want to tell me that we don't have the pictures loaded into the laptop yet... Sigh... Let me handle this and we'll see if I can get a posting done sometime soon!

Missed the Harvest

Well, having been away so much in the last little while, Sandy has missed the harvest! We was all gung-ho to see waving fields of wheat and rye and barley and oats... but...
All that is left in the fields is stubble!
Oh wait... what's that?? That looks like some sort of grain!
That could be... wheat? Or maybe rye? The combiner left a little bit behind...
Enough for a little bear to be happy that he saw at least some of the harvest!

Circle of Stones

Sandy has heard about Stonehenge... and he knows that Hammie has found interesting dolmens in The Netherlands. So he wonders if maybe Canada has something like that too! On one of his hikes he spied something in the distance... something beary interesting!
Can you see it?? It's a line of rocks!
No wait... it's a big circle of rocks!! With other rocks in the middle...
This smaller pile looks like a circle-ish shape too. Is it a prehistoric site?? Maybe it was used for something back in the olden days?
Wait a minute... that looks like it spells "O E... and O E" again... Maybe not so prehistoric... Or it could be "3 0... and 3 0" if you stood at the opposite end of the circle.... Or it could be "W and O" on top of each other... "Wo Wo"?? Or... it could be "O and M" on top of each other... "Om Om"?? That sounds like a noise a bear might make!!! So does Wo Wo too!!
This could be a bear monument!! Maybe... maybe not... because it would take a whole bunch of little bears to move even one of these stones... Sandy is going to have to keep his eyes peeled to find more of these! He could try making a monument too (with smaller stones)...
