Ruins in the Forest

Hullo... we are continuing our sunrise river adventure and found this trail along the hydro line. Which is good but... off in the forest... we saw something beary interesting.

Do you see it??? Some sort of ruins!

Which someone has painted of course... It looks like the foundation of a house or something.

There are chunks of concrete everywhere.

There's a whole row of these... wonder if there were houses here at one point, back 80-100 years ago?

We also found bits and pieces of things...

And stairs to nowhere.

A room with a view?

We think it looks better with stuffies in the view!

And somebody's left painted rocks here as well.

And an antique corner sink... some home restorer would probably love to have that a fix it up!

As you can see... in April the leaves were just starting to come out...

And there was even some frost on things! Brrr... frost...

We followed the hydro line trail to the end and came to this... private property with a no trespassing sign. Looks like they cleared the land for something. Probably another subdivision. Those are popping up like mushrooms with house prices being so ridiculous!

That's too bad... I bet a lot of squirrels lost their homes when the land was cleared...

And... more adventure to come!

The Sun Rises

Right then... still waiting for the sun to come up

We are seriously almost there.

Wait... do you see it!!! That little peek of sunshine!

Hooray!! There's the sun.

This is a nice spot to catch the sunrise... very peaceful with just a few herons and eagles flying about.

We've never been to this spot before, so there is some more adventuring to do...

And no... there was no breakfast cocoa or scones brought along on this trip! Hmph...

We thought this would make a good swimming spot with Rose... and came here again a few weeks ago. Except we came at uber-low tide and... the water was knee deep and full of weeds. Note to self... come swimming at uber-high tide here!

A River Sunrise Adventure

Hullo! Today we are going on a hike adventure. We are searching for a good sunrise spot... FYI... these photos were taken in ... cough... April... cough.

They're pretty insistent about this No Parking rule... the felt pen below says "Pick up after your dog!"... apparently you can step in a lot of dog doo-doo if you're not careful on this trail.

Now that's a good sign!!! Hah!

OK... we're through! This is the river estuary area... at highish tide...

Pretty, isn't it? But the sun is going to rise off to the right somewhere...

And there's a cute marsh on the other side... we can hear all sorts of birds, only one of which we recognize, the red-winged blackbird.

And here we are at the river... with... an art installation??

Hmmm... interesting... where is that water line??

Ooops... maybe not an art installation... there are some pilings here as well...

But they could be arty too!

Not hte sunrise spot we're looking for though...

Then we found this pine tree clinging on for dear life...

That could make a good sunrise picture too...

Hmmm... sit and wait here or?

Onwards!! The trail calls... so we went a bit further up river and found a nice log to sit on.

And we think the sun is going to come up any minute so we'll see it here...

... any minute now...

... just about there... why does this always take longer than expected????

Sherlock Mail!

Hullo! Sherlock Sandy here... I received some mail from the UK last week. I'm going to guess it's another clue from Beanie Moriarty in the Case of the Missing Bullion!

This sure is a fancy envelope... with a LOT of stickers.

See... stickers...

Those are the UK stamps...

And this looks like a stamp but it's actually "Artpost"... go figure!

That Moriarty Beanie is "Sneaky Smarty"!

The back of the envelope has even more stickers...

Looks old fashioned...

I live there!!

And another one.

Now that we have examined the envelope for any clues, let's take a look inside.

A fancy card... Italian writing with "S. Georgia maggiore frari et Badia"... which is in Venice... or Venezia as the Italians say!

And it's Greeting Card 2,554... I posted on the found-art blog!

Ah-hah!! This is our prize from the last Case of the Missing Bullion... a 50p coin commemorating Johnson's Dictionary!

See... it's a got a definition of "Fifty" and "Pence" on there!

Thanks Moriarty Beanie!!

Now... for the next clue...
"A countrywide partnership comes to an end,
On communal decrees, we no longer depend.
Although still allies, new trade routes are made,
And finally now, independence conveyed.
What is the commemoration?"

Well now... that's a conundrum isn't it?? Would the Brits have commemorated the War of Independence in the USA?? Hmmm... unlikely...

Is it a Commonwealth thing??? Nope... Well, then... my Sherlock senses tell me it is a Brexit coin!!

See... Brexit coin!

Thanks for the clue Moriarty Beanie!
