Goats on the Roof!

Hullo! I am in Coombs at Goats on the Roof!

We stopped here for lunch but... I don't see any goats...

Maybe they are having lunch? Our lunch was yummy... a falafel wrap!

And now we wait patiently with the camera at the ready and...

There!!! A goat!! On the roof!!

After lunch, we wandered by the pastry counter...

They have some delicious offerings like bear claws (yum!) and macarons (macroons?).

But we didn't get anything...

I know... scandalous, right?

Then we had a look through their housewares section...

As Beanie Mouse would say... this place is heaving with people!

Do we need a Goats on the Roof sticker??

Or a sign??

How about some salmon??? No??? What is the world coming to!

Editor's Note... there was ice cream but it had to be eaten fast in order to avoid a meltdown...

And then... we came here! To our favourite lake... Cameron Lake... this was back in July before that Wesley Ridge wildfire started...

This is the best lake... the water is a nice temp... it's sandy out there (hah!) and it's sooooo clear!!!!

Plus there are cool things to take photos of... like this big old cedar rootwad.

And what is this???

Maybe... a canoe being carved???

That's our best guess... and we didn't stay long at the lake cause Rose wasn't here... but... she did come later in the summer...

FYI... we had sooooo many adventures that we are over-run with potential blog posts... hence posting a July adventure in September! It's not due to sekrebeary delays (at least not this time...).

A Visit to Goats on the Roof

I'm in Holland!!!

Almost... well... not quite...

There's a Dutch store here in Coombs and they have a seriously cool mural on the side of the building!

You could almost think you were in Holland... but not quite.

Eh, what is this??

It is a MASSIVE geo-cache!!!

I have zero idea how these work but later learned that the lock has a 3 digit code that you need to figure out.

We were too rushed to figure it out this time... but next time!!

We were hunting for beary specific dumplings for Gramma but... they had a tonne... just not the right ones.

Coombs is a beary interesting place with lots of weird sculptures and things.

Almost like Flintstone land... but not quite.

More dumplings in the Coombs General Store but... not the right ones.

They have so much cool stuff here!

A bear's head bottle opener?

I wanted to get one but was vetoed down... phooie!

I also wanted a Grizzly Paw pastry but... was also vetoed down... what is with this vetoing???

I'll have some of that, and some of this and more of those!!!!

Or maybe smoked salmon in various flavours!

Choices choices... soooo hard!

I really don't know...

Or do I want ice cream instead??? Ugh... how is a little bear to decide?

Or do I want Jaffa Cakes?? I know Beanie Mouse would be all over these!!

Or... how about Pigs'n'Taters chocolate? From Colorado... Yes... bacon and potato flavoured chocolate. I'm thinking this might appeal to Droopy W. Dog or Little Fox? Although... it's chococlate and chocolate is bad for canines... soooo?? Who eats this?

OK... and we are here to see the goats along with a tonne of other people... they are just over...

.... there... well... behind the photo bombing truck.

There's a goat!! Mooning the crowds...

Alright... I have finally made a decision... ice cream it is!!

Soooo many choices here too!!!

Hazelnut something or other... yum!!!

Lake and Goats and Cheese and Salmon!

Hello!!!! Guess where we are??? We are at the lake!!! And guess who is with us today??

Otto and Rose!!! We are going to go paddleboarding! Well... the humans are... and maybe Otto. There is waaaayyyyy too much tipping over on the paddleboard!

It's so pretty here!

Ahhhh... this is the life...

Navy Beanie has never been to a lake like this! I guess they didn't have big lakes on Mouse Island. He wanted to take control of the paddleboard but... it's hard to paddle with short little arms...

See... out there... there's a paddleboard with heads in the water next to it... the humans fell off again!

Alright... now for the real adventure!! We are at Goats on the Roof!!! Why are we here? Because the Old Country Market has....

A truly amazing selection of cheeses!!!

Navy is a bit stunned... so this visit might take a while...

This is a Salt Spring Island goat cheese... beary good!!

Sooooo many options!!!

Navy Beanie has been quite deprived during his sojourn on the seashore you know... ate nothing but seaweed (gross).

There's lots of British cheeses here...

But not only that... they have a fresh bakery section!!!

With Bear Claws!!!

And Chocolate Croissants!!!

So mmannyyyy choices!!! OK... we have to pick something!!! Navy chose the Juliette brie cheese from Salt Spring. Excellent choice...

And I chose some smoked salmon nuggets...

So many options!!!!

Yum!!!!

Oh... Single Malt Whiskey Cheese... seems to be popular...

Chocolate Fudge Cheese??? Not so popular...

Sometimes... too many choices is not a good thing!! Navy Beanie is wondering if he's made the right choice! Enough!! Let's get out of here!!

"Pssst... just wanted to say... Cocoa... if you're reading this... they have..."

Fresh Cheese bread!!!!!

"OMG!!!"

Right then... we are home and... eating... in no particular order... some mint chocolate chip ice cream... cause we're hot and sweaty!

And then a chocolate croissant... yummers!

It was beary good... but maybe next time we'll get two!

And then Navy had some brie on cheesebread... yum!!!

Soooo very good!

And yes... I had some smoked salmon nuggets!!!!
