Staring into the Depths of the Earth

Hulllo! We've stared into the The Abyss but we are continuing our hike into unknown territory... We are looking for a trail that has a beary fascinating name... a certain fox of our acquaintance will loovvveeee this trail name!

Sooo... there has been some logging along here... hmph... well, at least we have a nice view of the ocean and the Coast Mountains.

We found The Thrones!!! Excellent... we'd heard about them but never got this far on this trail before...

This is really a nice place... be a good place for a picnic but... we have no snacks of course...

Oh... and yes... this is part of the Trans Canada Trail!

Alright... we have found the intersection of Creeper Trail (that is a strange name, isn't it...) with...

Are you ready, Little Fox?

There it is... that sign on the tree...

This trail is called... Chicken Dinner!!!

Yes... isn't that a great trail name!? Now... we're not sure if there actually is a chicken dinner along this trail but...

Let's check it out!!! Oooh... is there a chiken dinner in there?

Nope... doesn't look like it...

This is a cool little alcove though...

Oh wow... these are some steep cliffs here. We are now along the base of that escarpment from The Abyss....

And there are lots of fallen blocks down here...

We could play hide and seek forever in a place like this...

Hmmm... what have we here... looks like it might have been some coal exploration at some point. See the black debris?

It's just a hole with some water in it but... a bit farther along this escarpment there were coal mines back in the day.

Oh... this is more than an alcove... and more than a hole in the ground. This is an actual... cave? There's water in there... and we can hear water dripping... And there is more coal debris outside this hole...

And all that rocks is sitting on top of this opening... hmmm...

You go in.
"No, you go in!"
No, you!!
...
Wait... how about...

YOU go in there!

Hmmm... a flash photo shows that the opening is not that deep but we are calling this place... The Depths of the Earth...

And... whew... we got spit out here... You can see more blocks that have fallen off that escarpment... I don't think anyone is going into the Depths of the Earth anytime soon...

But we did find a cool young pine with some beary nice cones...

They'd be great for Christmas wreaths! Will have to keep this place in mind...

That was a super cool hike and... we are wrapping it up with a bit of a mystery...

We found a jaw-bone... possibly a canine searching for the chicken dinner on that trail!

Staring into the Abyss

Hullo stuffie pals, today we are going on an epic adventure. We are searching for... The Abyss. Yes... there really is such a place...

Here we are... do you see that big crack... it is The Abyss...

Oooh... ahhh... can you see how deep it is??

Oh... well... that doesn't look beary deep does it? And we heard that several dogs have had to be rescued from the Abyss this past winter and... well... this Abyss could maybe eat a mouse but definitely not a dog!

Oh... but if we track that split farther... we come to this... oohhh...

... AAHHHH!!!! Oh wow....

OK, that is a seriously deep split in the rock...

Rumour has it that it is 30 metres deep in places... We debated tying one of us to a rope with a GoPro but... we had neither rope nor GoPro sooo... that will have to wait until another time!

It doesn't look too bad from this angle but...

But from this angle... yikes! Sooo... when dogs fall down The Abyss, the fire department comes and they send a guy down there (on a rope) to get the dog. It gets really narrow in spots so it must be a pretty slim firefighter!

No one's really sure what caused The Abyss... possibly an earthquake or maybe collapsed mine tunnels below...

But farther along... Even a stuffie can span The Abyss!

Nobody sneeze...

And here... you can see that this area forms an escarpment with a really steep drop-off down there...

Wow... alright... onwards...

To Be Continued

Sergeant Sandy and Blogger/Blogspot Security

Hullo Blogger pals. Today I am going to review a feature of Blogger Security which you may not be familiar with - SSL security - a.k.a. https:// (vs. http://). Blogger introduced SSL back in 2015 to help all of our blogs be more secure...

Lately though, I've noticed a few hiccups when I click to visit a pal's blog...

Don't worry... this is a super quick and easy fix!!!

Ready? OK... let's go... First... let me show you the hiccup. When I'm in my list of blogs from my friends (in the blogger control panel)... I click on a blog to read and...

I get this notice. Have you seen this notice??

It's a redirect notice telling me that I am going to an http:// site

See... there's not "s" behind the http://

And... if you look at the url in the address bar... You see a sign that says "Not secure"... if you double click on the address... it will show just http://...

Compare with my blog... see the padlock? And the https:/// that's what we're looking for...

So, let's get there... First... go to your blogger control panel/dashboard and click on Settings...

That will open up some options. Under Basic... look for HTTPS heading....

And just slide it to the right... like this... Check the bottom off the page to see if you need to save and... you're done!!

See... that wasn't so hard... and now all your blogger comments and stuff are secure...

I hope this was helpful...

P.S. Not picking on my pal Adjin!! His was just the blog that I had open when I grabbed screenshots!
