Bus Bingo Mail!

We received some mail this past week!! 

This first one is from... Little Fox... but with a Canadian postmark. What the heck??

Ooohhh... it's a lovely cat card!

Er... with some mouse toys dangling from it... uh-oh...

"Oh, that's funny, that is... really funny... hmph!"

Oh dear, we have a huffy mouse on your hands!!

I hope we can pull this one back from the brink...

Yes. We can! Ohhhhh Cocoooooaaa! Look, the card is addressed to you!!!

"To meeeeee!!!???"

Yup, and your name is first too!!!

"That's so cool!! Thanks LF!"

LF hopes that springtime is treating us well. He admits it's a tough job managing the garden and the hiking crew. 

Thanks LF!! We are going to do a post about "spring"... it has been delayed!

Next yup, we have a card from the oh-so-artistic Beanie Mouse & Co. This card is addressed to me and to Cocoa (good idea Beanie!).

The card inside is from an antique map but we can't figure out where it's from...hmmm...

And inside the card are... two prizes!!!! For us winning on Bus Bingo!!

First up is a bookmark with Paddington Bear all over it... that is so cool!

Beanie says they have grey and drab weather there. We do too!!

Sandy gets to wear the pin first... and Cocoa is going to use the book mark for a book he is reading about the Donner Party. Did you know that the Donner folks ate field mice while they were stuck at Donner Lake for the winter? It's true... Cocoa says it is quite a gross story!

Oh, and the pin says Tower of London and bus 15! I don't think we've ever taken that bus...

Oh, and we're still stymied by this fragment of a map. It has an elephant on it which made us think India or Africa but... nope. And then there is the crest which looks European but... who knows! Maybe it's an imaginary place??

Beanie Moriarty Mail!

 Hello Hello! I know, we are seriously behind on blog posts and mail. Sigh... life gets out of hand beary quickly nowadays! Anyhow... 

We received some mail a few weeks ago.

Alright... we get the prize and... menus!

Menus are always good. We think Beanie & Co are trying to entice our taste buds for another London visit!

And this is the prize... it's a £2 coin...

We got another envelope too... from the USA

It's only addressed to Sandy and...

... that makes Cocoa sad... but he knows it's not personal... (sniff)...

WHOA!! Look at all this stuff!!!

There's a Smokey the Bear sticker which is awesome!!! We love Smokey...

Little Fox asked us if we have Smokey the Bear up here in Canada. Nope. We don't have national forest service like in the USA. It's all provincially regulated. But... we do have Ember the Firesmart Fox!

She teaches people how to make their homes and properties firesmart if there's a wildfire.

And... we also got a little packet with two little bear faces... Yes, this envelope is from Jerry & Ben!

Inside was this...

It's a teeny tiny turtle carved from Pipestone!

Cool!!

Jerry and Ben had been Whatsapping some clues to us and we knew they were in the area of the pipestone quarry. So neat!

See... beary tiny... 

And there's a postcard too...

Oooh... See it's the Case of the Tiny Turtle!! They are thinking about gardening and hiking this spring and summer. That's a beary good idea!`    

It's definitely a "tiny" turtle!

And there's a long brochure about the place.

Wow. Beary cool!

This is so cool... the stone used for pipestone is also known as Catlinite (named after Mr. Catlin who thought he discovered it). It's a type of argillite (metamorphosed mudstone).

That is beary interesting because the Pacific Northwest Haida carve black argillite which comes from a quarry on Haida Gwaii! Cool! They can cut it with a saw... go figure.

We learned that the pipestone comes from Pipestone National Monument in Minnesota.

Whoa... lots of cool information. That pipestone vein looks pretty small... and they have to be careful quarrying it otherwise it breaks.
