Pumpkin Carving!!

 Hullo!! I know, it's been a few days since we last posted. We were working on our Halloween costumes!! Anyhow... today is pumpkin carving day but... honestly... these are more like pumpkinettes than pumpkins!!!

Oh... whoa! OK... there is a REAL pumpkin here!

Time to get to work!

First... decapitate the pumpkin...

And now... disembowel the pumpkin brains... that is a beary messy job.

"We'll leave it up to your human, Sandy... that's what they're here for..."

"While we go and pick out a pattern!"

Alrightee... it's relatively clean in there...

"Now we get the pattern!"

"We picked this one cause the mouth looks like a bat!"

"And then we taped it to a good side of the pumpkin and..."

"Got carving... hmmm..."

"These paper patterns are beary messy!"

***a little while later***

Ugh... the paper pattern keeps falling apart! 

Will we succeed in our mission??

"Have faith little bear!"

OK... there we go... not too bad. Now we just have to push the cut bits out and cross our claws!

Ahhhh... it turned out pretty good!!!!

What do you think?? We think that looks pretty good!

And we put it outside... It's still 10 days till Halloween so it might be a bit icky by then... but that's Halloween for you!

There's always more pumpkins if we are feeling adventurous.

Whew... that is done. Oh yes, and this pumpkin is our entry for Jerry & Ben's Halloween contest!

Pumpkin Carving

Ooof... this is hard work!!!

Oh, Hullo... we are trying to carve our pumpkins... it's hard going though.

Finally! We got the top off but....  neither one of us is keen to stick our paws in there.

We need help!!

And look who's here to help!!! Rose!

Atta girl Rose... just put your hand right in there..

While Rose is disemboweling the pumpkin... we are checking out our new pumpkin carving kit... those tools work really well!!

How's it going? Ooohh...

Did you see Rose's hand?

She drew bones on it! Wow... cool!

And there are lots of pumpkin guts! We are also going to roast the seeds. Apparently, you can eat them whole. Go figure...

Cocoa is beary interested in this because mice love seeds...

Love them!!! Not quite as much as cheese of course... but getting up there.

Rose's mom is here too helping...

There we go... seeds are all ready to be roasted. With a bit of oil and some salt and pepper...

And some chili powder on some!

Yum!!

Meanwhile... we carved the opening on another pumpkin... so there are MORE seeds to roast!

And... after much muttering... we got our pumpkin carved! It's a witch's hat... like the sorting hat in Harry Potter!

That'll work... now... wait...

Cocoa what are you doing?

Just nibbling on seeds! They are super yum!

Sigh... I guess these will count as a Halloween treat for Jerry & Ben's contest!!

Anyhow... here's the one pumpkin lit up!

Now to carve the next one...

We are trying an oogly eyed pumpkin...

It's hard work but...

It turned out pretty good too!

Oh... and while we're at it... I need my wand stained....

Yes... you heard that right... a wand!

There we go... It just needs to dry...

It's a 6" maple wand with a core that contains hair of Spirit Bear... in case you wanted to know!
