Hulllo! We've stared into the The Abyss but we are continuing our hike into unknown territory... We are looking for a trail that has a beary fascinating name... a certain fox of our acquaintance will loovvveeee this trail name!
Sooo... there has been some logging along here... hmph... well, at least we have a nice view of the ocean and the Coast Mountains.
We found The Thrones!!! Excellent... we'd heard about them but never got this far on this trail before...
This is really a nice place... be a good place for a picnic but... we have no snacks of course...
Oh... and yes... this is part of the Trans Canada Trail!
Alright... we have found the intersection of Creeper Trail (that is a strange name, isn't it...) with...
Are you ready, Little Fox?
There it is... that sign on the tree...
This trail is called... Chicken Dinner!!!
Yes... isn't that a great trail name!? Now... we're not sure if there actually is a chicken dinner along this trail but...
Let's check it out!!! Oooh... is there a chiken dinner in there?
Nope... doesn't look like it...
This is a cool little alcove though...
Oh wow... these are some steep cliffs here. We are now along the base of that escarpment from The Abyss....
And there are lots of fallen blocks down here...
We could play hide and seek forever in a place like this...
Hmmm... what have we here... looks like it might have been some coal exploration at some point. See the black debris?
It's just a hole with some water in it but... a bit farther along this escarpment there were coal mines back in the day.
Oh... this is more than an alcove... and more than a hole in the ground. This is an actual... cave? There's water in there... and we can hear water dripping... And there is more coal debris outside this hole...
And all that rocks is sitting on top of this opening... hmmm...
You go in.
"No, you go in!"
No, you!!
...
Wait... how about...
YOU go in there!
Hmmm... a flash photo shows that the opening is not that deep but we are calling this place... The Depths of the Earth...
And... whew... we got spit out here... You can see more blocks that have fallen off that escarpment... I don't think anyone is going into the Depths of the Earth anytime soon...
But we did find a cool young pine with some beary nice cones...
They'd be great for Christmas wreaths! Will have to keep this place in mind...
That was a super cool hike and... we are wrapping it up with a bit of a mystery...
We found a jaw-bone... possibly a canine searching for the chicken dinner on that trail!
Did you say the trail is called "Chicken Dinner"? THis trail seems right up my alley, chicken, dinner, and hiking.
ReplyDeleteI did some research on the Trans Canada Trail. When are you planning on hiking it? From what I read on Wikipedia, if you hike 30Km a day, it could take 2 years to travel.
Yup, we thought you'd like that trail name... has Fox Fun written all over it.
ReplyDeleteThat would be an epic hike for sure... not quite like the the PCT or the Appalachian Trail. And there are hiccups along the way... like missing bridges over rivers, requiring extensive detours!
