Mushroom Hunting with a Little Fox

 A few weeks back, Mama was out hiking without us. I know... too bad the sekrebeary evaluation is done!

And she found some hedgehog mushrooms... They look a lot like chanterelles but have teeth or spines on the bottom of the caps instead of rills.

It's supposed to be a bumper crop of mushrooms this year, so we thought we'd see what we could find.

It's a beary muddy trail today!

But the bracken fern is Little Fox's colour!

Ah-hah... here ae some mushrooms!! Some weird orange jelly ones on the log and...

"Just some plain gilled Little White Mushrooms".

How about this one?

It's just a Little Reddish-brown Mushroom... (we are making these names up).

With mushroom picking... we have 10 that we know really, really well, that are choice... and leave the rest of the thousands of mushrooms to the squirrels and bears!

Cute... but it's just a Little Yellow Mushroom.

These look almost chanterelly... but someone's already turned one over and seen the gills...

Another Little White Mushroom...

There are certainly a lot of mushrooms!! But none that we would want to take home with us.

Little white ones on a tree...

Oh... Mama just said she saw an owl down here the other week... when she hiked without us! Seeee... pretty! It's a Bar Owl, we think...

And she says she sees one now!!! You mean right here??

Where???

Over at the base of the tree??

Ah-hah... someone has put a carved wooden owl in that hollow. Funny!

We also spotted these weird mushrooms...

They almost look like moldy morels... we will pass.

We are calling it quits on mushroom hunting!

But as we headed back to the trailhead... we spotted something on the ground...

Do you see it? It's a black dog poopy bag!

We are only a few hundred feet from the trailhead and the garbage can. Some dog obviously got out of the car and did their business and... the owner didn't want to carry the poopy bag the whole way. So they leave it here... and hope they will remember to pick it up?? So what would you do? Leave it... or take it to the garbage bin??

Here we are! What do you think we did? Left it for the owners or... acted as the Poopy Bag Fairies?
