Sooo... I was rummaging through the pantry and I found this can of pumpkin mush... which expires this fall... sooo... I think it's time to try a pumpkin pie!
It calls for eggs... but we are going to try to replace that with ground flax seed and water (spoiler... that didn't work too well!)
Note to self: don't just go with the pumpkin pie recipe on the can... look up different options online!
But... we are blazing ahead!
First... we have two pie shells (frozen ones... cause that is easier!)...
And we need some spices...
And... open the pumpkin can... wow... that is really orange!
And we need some brown sugar... hello gingerbread guy!! We soak him in water and put him in the jar... keeps the brown sugar from petrifying solid!
Do you have a gingerbread sugar thingie?
And... fill up the pie shells. We thought it was a bit liquidy but... never having made pumpkin pie before it was like... "oh well"...
And... this recipe did not use corn starch at all which is apparently an important ingredient... especially if you don't use eggs... hmph!
We had to cook them longer...
But they still taste yummy!!!! And yes... there are two (2) pies... ahem... any taste testers our there? You know... for American Thanksgiving or something??
I'LL HAVE SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI figured you might like some!
DeleteI'm available to taste test anytime!
ReplyDeleteExcellent because there's no chocolate in these!
DeleteYou got two pies out of one can of pumpkin? That's pretty cool. We get one pie per can...I need to get one of those gingerbread people.
ReplyDeleteI know... we thought it was weird too. These vegan recipes can be wonky sometimes...
DeleteUm, that is a great number of pies...we're pretty sure that you'll need the help of several stuffie pals to finish them...what time should we be over?
