Hullo... I seem to be the bearer of much sad news of late. Rose's cat, Sassy (short of Sasquatch) passed away a few days ago. It looks like a coyote got him (not pretty). He was such a handsome boy and Rose and her family are beary sad.
A couple of years ago, I had taken Little Fox and Jelly Beanie to meet Sassy (enroute to England). We think Sassy may have just thought the coyote was another potential canine friend. RIP Sassy boy.
How many adventures can a Bearista Bear have in a year or two? Quite a few it turns out!

Chefs Sandy and Little Fox join forces
Hello... today we are going to be doing a little cooking... a dessert apparently. We have whipping cream and cocoa powder and...
Hmmm... avocados... Are you curious yet? Stay tuned!
Let's get started then... first we need to beat the whipping cream...
That looks good! Good thing there are two beaters... we each get to lick one!
Now we handle the avocados...
Oh... and we're going to use some apple sauce too...
Hmmm... loss of balance... never a good thing...
It's OK... I just saw... well... you'll find out what I saw! Be still my beating bear heart!
Now we get out the food processor...
And blend up the avocados... are we making guacamole? Noooo....
Now we add some cocoa powder (maybe it's a mole sauce?)
And (here we go)... several dollops of creamed honey!!!!! Yes!!!
And I got to lick the spoon!
Then there were some dollops of apple sauce...
Now... we whip all of that up... mmm....
Looking good!!!
Then, in a large bowl, you mix up the avocado/guacamole/cocoa mix with the whipped cream...
Phew this is hard work... I'll take a spell at it too...
I think we're there!
Voila... cocoa mousse with no sugar!! (There were a few drops of Stevia in the whipping cream)... sooooo good! Four paws up from the two chefs!
Houston... we have a problem!!! Luckily... we had a back-up dessert for the visiting canine.
Hmmm... avocados... Are you curious yet? Stay tuned!

But... ummm... there is a problem... as my canine friends will likely recognize... Canines can't eat chocolate!! Not even cocoa powder... it's the theobromine, you know.
Home-made apple sauce from last fall! Eh? Not bad actually... and much more in line with a canine digestive system. Whew!

We are having chicken for dinner!! Little Fox is a big chicken aficionado!
I think we are going to have a fun visit!

Winter has a Grip in the Woods
Sooo... a few days ago... the same day that I gave the garden tour... I went for a hike in the woods... and... well... winter still has a grip up there!
Maybe I should be wearing my winter gear? But it's so nice and warm out!
Oh... it's not too bad... the trail looks nice and clear.
Hmmm... or not... there is quite a bit.
Wow...
You know... we had over 80 cm of snow in February which is crazy for us! That's... umm... almost 2.5 feet I think!
Luckily the snow is pretty crispy so I can scamper around on top of it.
Even some of the forest pools are still frozen over... several inches frozen over...
But... there is meltwater too so spring is coming! It's been a reallllyyyy lonnnnggg winter!
We had a bad windstorm in December and it looks like it knocked a bunch of trees down up here.
Oh look... green leaf buds!!
This little lake is almost totally ice free... nice.
I'm just going to sit here for a bit and soak up the sun.
I haven't been out for a hike in weeks!! It's so nice to get out and enjoy the weather... and the snow.
The big lake still has some ice on it too... although most of it is ice free. It's supposed to get warmer over the next few weeks... keeping fingers crossed because the weather people have been saying that for a while now!
