Uh-oh... we had a mini-disaster today. Sandy's pants burst a seam along the side... That's what happens when you have a very adventurous bear who want to see everything and climb everything.
What to do... what to do??? Duct tape would be most useful right now but... none at hand. So we'll have to resort to something old-fashioned...
Mama had two mini emergency sewing kits with her... and luckily one of them had grey thread, almost exactly the right shade of grey!! The only problem... Mama hasn't sewed since Grade 8 which would be a beary, beary long time ago... If her own clothes sprung a seam, she would just buy new clothes (and forego the mending). But this is Sandy's only pair of pants so... sewing it is.
Amongst much squeaking from Sandy - "Don't poke me Mama!!" - and much concentration... the job was done! Voila... there we have it... It won't win any sewing awards, but it will keep Sandy's bum from hanging out! We don't want to scare the tourist with a bare bear bum!
As a reward for being so big and brave, Sandy got to pose with some of his bear souvenirs. Mind you, not all of them are his. The Berlin mug is for a friend back home.
Oh my Sandy! She is certainly not a seamstress. But not bad for not making a certain bear, take his pants off. If you are calling it a temporary fix, and she wants some pointers, my mom would be glad to help.
ReplyDelete@Buttons - no... Mama can do many things but she is definitely NOT a seamstress. Part of the problem too is that my pants (and boots) are sewed on... I know, not great planning on the part of the Bear Gods! They should have knowed that little bears might need to have their pants mended... Mama says the seam on the back of my pants is starting to look a little dangerous too! Duct tape is looking very tempting! My Mama will contact your Mama for pointers!
ReplyDeleteWow Sandy, your mom did a great job sewing your pants! We've been looking for someone who can make bear clothes for us; if you find someone, let us know too! That Berlin Starbucks mug is so beary nice! Your mom will love drinking her morning coffee using that mug!
ReplyDeletePoor little bear...as the saying sort of goes...like mama like little bear....I think your Mom needs some sewing tips from her mom as grade 8 sewing really was a long time ago...watch out for all that yummy German chocolate, you don't want to burst your new seam because you are getting pudgy!
ReplyDeleteWell, Bob T Bear would be most happy to have his bum hanging out so I wouldn't worry!!!!!
ReplyDelete@Jerry & Ben - I think Mama did an OK job too - given the circumstances!
ReplyDelete@Lori - But I haven't been eating German chocolate!! Well.. maybe a tiny bit... it's the almond marzipan horns that are the problem! I'm going to have to hike some mountains when I am home.
@Beanie - Very true... little bare bear bums don't seem to faze anyone!
