A campfire on the beach

OK... so if you thought the leaves from the last few posts were good... hang on a second...

What do you think about this!?

I agree... it's amazing!! The cottonwoods are just perfect right now!

After the golden forest, we went to the bookstore cause Gramma said one of her recipes had made it into a local cookbook! Yup.... her hazelnut torte is in there! That's Gramma on the lower right... a few years ago... well... many years ago!

There we go! She looks pretty good, eh?

After the bookstore, we went to the lake... sigh... so beautiful here.

We made a beach campfire... but it was touch and go because the wood was wet - so it was only a little fire... with no smores or hot dogs!

Still... it was nice!

And there was nobody else on the beach!! Which is what makes it so nice up here...

I'm a photogenic little bear, aren't I?

Bye bye lake!

And for dinner we're having something special...

Let's see... gravy...

And what's in here?

Lots of steam and knoedel (potato dumplings!).

Ooohhh.. .sauerbraten!

YUM!! Sauerbraten with knoedel and rotkohl (red cabbage)... soooo yummy!

I think Gramma could do a whole cookbook on her own!

And then it's time to say good bye to Gramma...

And fly back to Vancouver... and then home... a nice visit!

  2. Grandma is published? So cool. Maybe you can make one of her recipes from the book?
