Along the trail, under the highway and then... over the rocks.
... and through the swamp. Oooh... the skunk cabbage are blooming! So cute.
They are so cheerful if a bit stinky.
And... luckily... Mama remembered the murkiness of this area in the spring and cam prepared with her wellies!
Now... where are we going...
Along the deer trail...
And here we are! It's stinging nettle season. Cool!
Gloves are beary good and note... there is one for each hand... not two left hands like that one expedition! And a pair of scissors and plastic bags... let's go.
They are the perfect size right now.
That didn't take long... one bag already full.
And another bag!
Just because!
We found some fawn lilies - they are starting to bloom. I should go check out the fawn lily meadows and see if they are photogenic...
And a golf ball... I know there is a golf course near here but still... that is a long shot!
And here we are... three bags of nettles... ready to blanch, drain and freeze... Cool!
What is your recipe that involves the nettles?
ReplyDeleteDifferent options - spinach pie (but with nettles), vegan quesadilla with 5 cups of kale (but with nettles)... would work in lasagna too... anywhere that calls for cooked spinach or kale. Haven't tried them in a spinach dip yet...
DeleteWhat time is dinner? Those all sound good.
ReplyDeleteCould you do a nettle pesto?
