Sandy's Epic Spring Adventure - Driving North

Hullo!!! I know, it's been ages since I blogged regularly! But I'm back... we'll see for how long. My sekrebeary is working on installing a batch image resizer because... resizing 300+ photos one at a time is what has stalled this blog adventure!!

Oh... did I mention this was an adventure?? Well, it is!!

And not just for me... for Minnie too!!!

We are going on an Epic Spring Adventure... destination?? You'll have to wait and see!!! Our first destination is a place called Port Hardy on the north end of the island... it's only 400 km... (that's 240 miles for my American friends). Could be done in 4 hours but...

We are stopping along the way to rest and "stretch our legs"... I just want to point out that stuffie legs do NOT need stretching...

This is a rather boring place to stop...

A few big trees, but nothing special.

Bit of a swamp... but no ocean nearby...

What is a stuffie to do while some members of the party are "stretching" their legs?

Oooh... I found something cool!!! It's the Moss Monster!!! Ok... see that hole in the barrier? OK...

Wait for it...

Did you see??? In the first photo there was no moss in the hole... and now... it's coming through!

Beary interesting... and...

OMG!!! Look... there's more!!!

And... goodness... don't turn your back on this stuff!!!

It's beary pretty but...

Errr... I think I need to run! It's taking over the world!!

Sandy Bear, reporting from the first incursion of the Moss Monster!!

Alright... how is Minnie doing in all this??? Not too bad... no yowzing... no barfing... lots of sleeping.

Our next stop is Miracle Beach! This is more interesting...

This time, the humans are stopping to answer "the call of nature"... humans are strange what they call things. Hmph.

FYI, stuffies don't answer this particular "call of nature"... although we do answer "the call of the open road"!!

Right then... Miracle Beach has a huge campground, nice picnic area and then oodles of beach and subtidal flats...

But it's a bit nippy out here... this was late April you know.... brrr....

We did take a wee detour to check out the nearby estuary...

They get Chum and Coho spawning here in the fall... that might be an interesting time to visit.

Although... with the habitat restoration, you can't get anywhere near the actual river... sigh.

Well... this close... but that's not close enough for a hungry bear.

***Several Hours Later***

Hullo!! We are having another leg stretching moment here. We are north of Campbell River now and civilization has ended beary abruptly. Like... gone. Just the road... and the trees and the mountains.

And off in the distance...

SNOW!!!

We are on uncharted territory here. Although, Mama said she came down this way when she was just a young bear... er... person... but she has no memory of this stretch of road.

***Farther Along***
At this rate, these humans are going to be... what is he called... Gumby??? They are so stretched right now, it's silly! Minnie is making "are we there yet" eyes at us... but we are NOT there yet... not even close.

But... I think that's enough for now... Suffice to say, this little adventure bear will never ever utter those words... ("Are we there yet...")...

Stay Tuned for More!

Sandy's Bearbnb is Ready to Welcome Travelling Stuffies (and their Humans)

Hello! It is I, Sandy Bear. I know I haven't been blogging regularly lately but I've been beary busy. And I am finally ready for the grand reveal...

Are you ready?? Are you sure??

OK... let's go downstairs...

You see... the humans have been running the guest suite as an Airbnb these last few years. They have been trying to identify their Ideal Guest Avatar. I've been jumping up and down... hounding them to allow me to turn it into a Bearbnb... ready to welcome stuffies as well as their humans! Because... I mean... seriously... if there's an Ideal Guest Avatar... it has to be a stuffie and their human!

They finally gave me the green light and... I'd better seize the day before they change their minds!

And yes... Superhosts of course...

Welcome!!! As your Stuffie Host, I want you all to feel beary welcome here.

Although stuffies likely won't need the facilities... we do have some for their human companions.

And yes... thoughtful touches from the garden (of course)!

A full kitchen means your humans can whip up tantalizing meals for every stuffie palate.

Human guests love the Welcome Basket with lots of tasty treats.

I would, of course, tailor the basket for the expected stuffies... maybe some honey packets for bears?

And when your humans are doing the dishes, they'll love the view out into the back garden.

Now we get to the fun room!!

There's lots of space for stuffies to spread out while watching TV.

The magnolia tree is putting on a show out front.

Oh, and of course, all stuffies can have a personal tour of the garden with Yours Truly.

Plenty of dining space for the humans.

Plenty of sleeping space as well and stuffies can either sleep with their humans (who would want to do that?) or have their own sleeping accommodation. (**Editor's Note** "What!!!??)

And if you need some light reading before bed, we've got a BookCrossing corner in each bedroom!

The view out the second bedroom is highly appealing to the young and the young at heart!

That, of course, includes us stuffies!!

There's no chance of getting bored here either... lots of games to play, puzzles to assemble and adventures await!

The main bedroom is a great place to get away from your human...

That's why only this bedroom has some chocolates... humans don't need any more chocolates, do they?

Stuffies, on the other hand, can ALWAYS handle more chocolates!

If you need to get some blogging or instagramming done... just get your sekrebeary to set up their laptop at this work station and you can keep the world apprised of your adventures.

I'm a pretty cute bear, aren't I? If course, we can do a selfie together!

And, there you have it... Sandy's BearBNB...

Oh yes... I am here to welcome all of our stuffie guests. I even have an official badge since I've been cohosting with the humans for a while now.

Ah, I almost forgot... your stuffie passport... you have visited a LOT of places and... I'd like to contribute to it!

Yep... and official stamp to let the world know that you've stayed at Sandy's Bearbnb in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada!

Sooo... if any stuffies out there are planning a trip to the West Coast of Canada... and Vancouver Island in particular... drop me a line (littlecanadianbear at gmail dot com) and I'll send you the Bearbnb link.
