Sandy's Epic Spring Adventure - Driving North

Hullo!!! I know, it's been ages since I blogged regularly! But I'm back... we'll see for how long. My sekrebeary is working on installing a batch image resizer because... resizing 300+ photos one at a time is what has stalled this blog adventure!!

Oh... did I mention this was an adventure?? Well, it is!!

And not just for me... for Minnie too!!!

We are going on an Epic Spring Adventure... destination?? You'll have to wait and see!!! Our first destination is a place called Port Hardy on the north end of the island... it's only 400 km... (that's 240 miles for my American friends). Could be done in 4 hours but...

We are stopping along the way to rest and "stretch our legs"... I just want to point out that stuffie legs do NOT need stretching...

This is a rather boring place to stop...

A few big trees, but nothing special.

Bit of a swamp... but no ocean nearby...

What is a stuffie to do while some members of the party are "stretching" their legs?

Oooh... I found something cool!!! It's the Moss Monster!!! Ok... see that hole in the barrier? OK...

Wait for it...

Did you see??? In the first photo there was no moss in the hole... and now... it's coming through!

Beary interesting... and...

OMG!!! Look... there's more!!!

And... goodness... don't turn your back on this stuff!!!

It's beary pretty but...

Errr... I think I need to run! It's taking over the world!!

Sandy Bear, reporting from the first incursion of the Moss Monster!!

Alright... how is Minnie doing in all this??? Not too bad... no yowzing... no barfing... lots of sleeping.

Our next stop is Miracle Beach! This is more interesting...

This time, the humans are stopping to answer "the call of nature"... humans are strange what they call things. Hmph.

FYI, stuffies don't answer this particular "call of nature"... although we do answer "the call of the open road"!!

Right then... Miracle Beach has a huge campground, nice picnic area and then oodles of beach and subtidal flats...

But it's a bit nippy out here... this was late April you know.... brrr....

We did take a wee detour to check out the nearby estuary...

They get Chum and Coho spawning here in the fall... that might be an interesting time to visit.

Although... with the habitat restoration, you can't get anywhere near the actual river... sigh.

Well... this close... but that's not close enough for a hungry bear.

***Several Hours Later***

Hullo!! We are having another leg stretching moment here. We are north of Campbell River now and civilization has ended beary abruptly. Like... gone. Just the road... and the trees and the mountains.

And off in the distance...

SNOW!!!

We are on uncharted territory here. Although, Mama said she came down this way when she was just a young bear... er... person... but she has no memory of this stretch of road.

***Farther Along***
At this rate, these humans are going to be... what is he called... Gumby??? They are so stretched right now, it's silly! Minnie is making "are we there yet" eyes at us... but we are NOT there yet... not even close.

But... I think that's enough for now... Suffice to say, this little adventure bear will never ever utter those words... ("Are we there yet...")...

Stay Tuned for More!

  1. I'm impressed that minnie is traveling in a car. My humans cat hated car rides

    1. Spooky and Rascal were unenthusiastic car riders. Minnie isn't actually that bad.
