We had an evening flight to Winterpeg with a quick layover in Vancouver... There's a lot of waiting when you're flying...
sigh.... I don't think this trip is starting off well... poor LF was a bit dejected...
And after a super quick touching base in Vancouver... it was off to Winterpeg.... arrival time, midnight...
except we were late leaving... so arrival time more like 12:30 am! Ugh... we are going to catch some shut-eye.
Sooo... Mama was in meetings for three days and we got to do nothing for the first two days... although she did bring back pictures of lunch... a reuben sandwich... oops... no drool alert!
Which means that all the sidewalks turn into lakes...
Like serious lakes!
Umm... maybe we should try this street?
But another lake... no... let's call it an ocean!
Winnipeg is notorious for flooding in the spring. It's cause the Red River, which starts down in the Dakotas... which tend to thaw quicker than Manitoba. So all the water comes north towards Winnipeg (which is usually still frozen) and... backs up. Winnipeg even has a big ditch dug around it... the Red River Floodway which is supposed to divert floodwaters around the city...
But they haven't solved the problem of snow melting in the city and flooding sidewalks and roads!!
Right then... Waterpeg was a dud this trip! Our return flight... we had to get up at 4 am... Well... Mama had to get up... we just kept snoozing!
Looks like you need the S.S. Sandy Tupperware!
ReplyDeleteSo true!
DeleteGood point Droopy. I hear Winnepeg has the most bars per capita in Canada. Hot summers, cold winters and flooding would neccesitate having lots of bars.
ReplyDeleteReally? I'll have to get Mama to ask her colleagues...
DeleteMaybe Spooky can go with you next time?
ReplyDeleteMaybe... she does like enclosed spaces so maybe she'd travel well in a cat carrier. She is getting old though... baby cat.
