A Hike!

Guess what! It was sunny on Easter Sunday!!! I had been promised a hike... so I'm glad the weather finally cooperated.

I figured out where I wanted to go and printed out a map of the network of trails...

Got together all the required hiking gear - boots, pack, seat cushions, bear spray, tp, first aid kit and binoculars.

Also made sure I had something to snack on... the humans can take care of themselves.

Finally... we are off on the trail... oh it is so good to be in the forest again.

This trail took us to some open arbutus & garry oak meadows.

The view was amazing!

But we couldn't explore too much cause there was a sign that said "No Trespassing"! There is a naval base down below...

Oh cool... I see the profile of a grumpy old man!

This trail apparently has lots of wildflowers in the spring but they weren't quite ready yet. Here are some foxgloves...

I also found this cool piece of graffiti on a water treatment shed! I think Sullivan would like it!

Oh hey - a lily!! I think these are called Fairy Lilies...

And someone thoughtfully placed a bench here... the two trees have grown around the ends of it.

Another great view - this one is to the East.

Heh-heh... our rhododendron isn't this far along yet, but some are!

After the hike, we went to a little lake to have a picnic. It was beary beautiful although a bit chilly. The sun hadn't come around the mountains yet.

On our way home, we stopped at a Free sign along the side of the road and picked up this old wash basin with some soaker hose. Someone thinks we could use this tub for planting flowers. I think it would make a great fort for little bears! Just need to turn it upside down and cut a door and some windows into the sides...

    1. A tulip festival! That would be nice... and a hike too - you are such a lucky fox. You know... I think it's good that your roommates adopted Sequoia. Humans seem to take dog walks more seriously than stuffie walks... it's a bonus for you!

  2. It looks like you're having great weather! Thankfully, things are warming up here so hopefully I can share some outdoor pictures soon.

Did you say those are "Fox Gloves?" I don't know...they look too small to fit over a fox's paws. Little Fox, any comment?...

    1. Well... no... no fishing. That's because I didn't know the lake was on the agenda! I need to pack some fishing line and a safety pin for emergencies such as these.

  4. Looks like a wonderful hike Sandy! We did a long hike today too, and we agree, we always pack a little emergency bear snack...the humans are on their own!

    1. Oooh... a long hike! Are we going to see pictures?? I agree - humans need to pack for themselves. It's every bear/human for themselves!

    2. Well, we should have added that we always have plenty of snacks for any stuffy pals that may want to hike with us, but you're right, seKretaries have bigger pockets and bags so they can pack their own snacks!
