The Hum Drum Part of London

Today, we are off on another grand adventure. I can't wait to see where we are going to go!! After a long Tube ride, we ended up at Kew Gardens Tube Station. I wanted to go to the Royal Botanical Gardens, just down the road but Mama said we needed to go to the PRO, affectionately known as the National Archives.

It looks awfully big? Why are we here again??

Hmmm... that looks like an interesting globe of the world.

This is the North American part... it looks like it's missing everything north of California on the West Coast. Apparently it is a representation from old cartographic maps of the world and those things are supposed to be monsters, as in... the world ends here and beyond "Here be ye monsters". Well this might be an interesting place!

Hmmm... looks like a beary interesting place. Except they don't let people run mad down the aisles... you have to get a Reader's Ticket (which Mama had already) and request things that then get delivered upstairs by a mysterious process.

In order to get into this place, you need to leave pretty much everything behind in lockers, other than notebooks, cameras, laptops and pencils (without erasers)... hmmm... All carried up in clear plastic bags and searched going in and coming out.

Nooooooo!!!! Seriously??? I can't come along??? Really??? But whhhhyyyyyyy????

***Plaintive little bear noises grew progressively fainter with distance***

I was rather chuffed when Mama came back out but then she showed me pictures of what she had been doing. It all looked monumentally boring. She said she could count 27 security cameras from her seat... Not a chance of smuggling a little bear in... oh well... She better make it up to me though!

  3. Oooh, the national archives, beary interesting. I wonder what she is up to?

Being locked up in a locker is no fun (been there....done that). Of course, now you can "guilt" her into something to benefit you. For example,a trip to Seattle, if she balks....just remind her that you were locked up like a prisoner in a locker. If you want an extra large hot chocolate and she say s"no", again just remind her you were stuck in a locker while she out gallivanting around the national archives.
