Back Road Soil Deal

Today... we are going on a secret mission... in the daylight! We borrowed a truck...

A BIG truck... and we are getting some back road soil (sort of like a back alley... but bigger).

Here we are... I better keep my head down... this looks like a dodgy area!

From the mutterings... I know Mama paid this guy some money... and now he's uncovering the secret soil stash.

 Oh boy... here it comes!

Whoomp!!! That's a lot of soil - who knew a cubic yard could be so much?

 And... here we are!!

Now we just have to unload... Yup, "we"...

I, of course, will supervise... and make sure the human keeps it moving.

It actually went pretty fast... that's what happens when you have a bear in charge.

Yup, that wheelbarrow is full enough...

18 wheelbarrows and still some soil left... we'll put that in rubbermaid containers.

Find a use for those somewhere...

There we go... empty truck!

Let's see... filled up this big bed...  we're going to put carrots and beets in there.

and this one got a top up (pole beans coming later)

The front part of this bed (future onions got a load).

And a bunch in this bed too. Think cabbages are going in there.

And some here too!

Wow... that was a lot of hard supervising!

Oh... and do you like where we hung the deer skull?

  1. Do you use that deer skull as a hat stand??

    1. No so far... someone has put their foot down about letting the deer skull in the house. Sigh.

  2. What?!? You're gardening already? *mumble* *grumble* "so unfair"
Ben will not have to make cookies in order to help Jerry to calm down.
We should be in the garden in another two weeks or so.

    1. Oh my, we have Arugalu and the onions are popping up. Just got back from Home Depot with tomatoes, oregano, peppers, and more. Sorry Jerry.

    2. Our garlic is a foot high. Mind you, the stuff that is outside is beary slow. Mind you, the Fava beans and peas are coming up. Our rosemary didn't survive our crazy winter though.

  3. Secret soil deal and a borrowed pickup truck? You are such a lucky bear to partake in all of those back alley deals. If you get a back alley deal for some copper river salmon (it's coming soon) let me know ASAP.

    1. For sure! I would even take a back-alley moosemeat deal in a pinch.
