Happy Holidays!

Hullo! Life got kind of busy before Christmas and so I didn't have a chance to post too much! We had an Advent calendar up... every little elf had a sack with... chocolate! Yummm

The tree did get put up eventually... whew!

And we had lots of wood stock-piled to cozy up in front of the fireplace. In case you're wondering... the fireplace surround is... yes... that 1970s lava-rock stuff. Ugh! It is even worse than the brass chandelier!

Of course, all my Christmas stuffie friends came out of hiding. They all have such fetching sweaters!

And... on December 24, I got three letters in the mail from my pals!!

This one was from Little Fox - he did up a super creative card with pictures of his 2014 adventures. Thanks!

And then there was a card from Bob T. Bear - Thanks!

And finally... a card from Jerry & Ben -with a super pretty red bird in snowy branches. We don't have any snow... at least not so far.

Now... on Christmas Day, I noticed this bear hanging out under the tree... all wrapped up with a pretty bow on his head. He says he's a gift for Grampa. But he looks awfully familiar to me?? Does anyone recognize him? Is he related to anyone we know?

And there were two presents under the tree for me!!

Ohhh... a book... This sounds like a sad story - the Little Teddy Left Behind!! Oooohhhh... but Mama says I'll have to read it to figure out what happens. I wonder if she'll ever write stories about me that will get published?

And then... of course...

The Sherlock Holmes outfit!! I am such a lucky bear!

  1. I am glad the card arrived. Ok, I have to admit the 70's rock on the fireplace is a little "tacky" but I bet you have plans to update it soon. Did you see the Paddington movie yet, I heard it came out on Christmas day in Canada?

    1. It is super tacky... faux-stone is so wrong! There are plans to update at some point... As for Paddington - I was looking at the theatre listings online but can't find it anywhere here!

    2. Faux stone, does that mean it's not even real rock? Hmm, I think the first case for Sherlock Sandy should be to find the builder of your house and ask them what they were thinking????

    3. I hope you can see the movie soon and give us US stuffies a sneak preview review. It's not going to be released until Jan 16th in the US.

    4. Yup - faux stone - i.e. painted concrete. There is a chunk taken out of the hearth... possibly a relation of Sequoia?

So far... I see no signs of a Paddington movie in Canada! I am wondering if maybe it releases on Jan 16, same as the USA...

    3. But of course!! And I will need Ben Watson to help naturally. I hope he's not too busy planning his cooking show!

    1. Do you think? I was looking at Tango and thinking they might be related... but I also thought he could be related to Bob T. Bear...

    2. Ah but Bob T Bear is a special FIFA bear with the Irish flag on his nose. Unless they're third cousins six times removed or something.....

    3. Well... this bear has a German flag sewed on his chest. Maybe they are third cousins from different Fifa years?

    1. Nope... there was a key chain magnifying glass but they were all sold out! It would have been a perfect size for me... oh well...

  5. Catching up on your posts this cold afternoon. Just wondering if your mama has thought of painting the faux rock until it can be updated? That 1970's faux rock was popular. Mom says out house used to have faux wood beams on the ceiling. Our 1970's fireplace is black, metal and appears it could say "Luke, I'm your father" at any moment. Updating these homes from the 70's takes lots of time & $$$. My house is mostly from the 50's only partly from the faux rock and faux wood era.

  6. All that and I forgot to say you look so smart in your Serlock Sandy duds! Can't wait to see what mysteries you solve.

  7. Thanks Buttons!!!
We have thought about painting the faux rock but the hearth also has a bug chunk taken out of it... so if we replace the hearth... well... we might as well replace the rest of it. You know renovations - you start with one small thing and all of a sudden it snowballs because everything is attached! 1950s houses are so cute... is yours "mid-century modern"??

  8. Sure do know renovations and how they can and take on a life of their own.
Don't think I'd call it mid-cenury modern. It was built in 1957, a split or tri-level with vaulted ceilings on the main level. The addition was added in 1971 or 2. I thnk of mid-century modern as a sprauling ranch style. My mom needs a ranch with a basement because anything on a slab is as difficult as stairs are now. She will need the laundry on the first floor. Someday, that's what we will have, but maybe not so sprauling.
