Way back in May (a beary long time ago), Sandy visited Gramma and went to a nearby lake to experience his first-ever campfire. That lake is now Sandy's most favourite spot in the whole wide world (so far).
Isn't it beautiful? It looks great for swimming, but it is a beary cold lake!
But it would be good for canoe-ing... or kayak-ing... as long as it is calm.
And the cottonwoods are still turning colour, which is beary pretty. But something doesn't smell beary pretty... ewww! Sandy looks around, wondering if there is a skunk skulking by. Or maybe a little bear farted?
No... it is that thing in the water!! What is that?? Ewwww...
It is a beary dead salmon. It is salmon spawning season right now and this one has washed up near the shore. Icky!! But Sandy is intrigued nevertheless... he is a bear after all... and bears LOVE salmon! But not this salmon... icky.
And a visit to this beautiful lake would not be complete without...
A campfire!! Yay!!! Sandy helps gather the kindling and some little twigs... but he has to be careful not to get too close to the fire or he might get a spark landing on his puffy coat, which would not be good!
We suggest making smores by that fire! That would be beary fun!
ReplyDeleteSmores??? Wouldn't that be kind of... sticky?? I would have to be beary careful or I would end up looking like a smore!
ReplyDeleteTrue! Smores would be sticky, but Jerry says he would even risk having to take a bath in order to enjoy some smores!
ReplyDeleteWell... they can't be any stickier than honey!
ReplyDeleteHa ha, very true Sandy! So why not honey smores!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell... there are recipes for homemade honey marshmallows online (must be a bear who wrote those)! They are probably a step up from the Jet Puff Marshmallows we buy in the store!
ReplyDeleteHoney marshmallows, YUM! We'll have to look or them. Papa saw honey flavored Altoid mints (in the little tin) at the store the other day...Ben was very excited and kept pointing to them, so of course Papa had to buy them.
ReplyDeleteSome little bears have great influence with their humans! Wrapped around their little claw by the sounds of it... he-heh
