First Day in Vegas - Fremont Street

 Yep, I am in Vegas! We hit the ground running and went downtown and checked out Fremont Street...

There are so many "Welcome to Vegas" signs!

Oh wow... the canopy is an everchanging scene... sooo cool!

See, now it looks like the sky!

It's the Golden Nugget casino!!

And Binion's... another casino? Soooo many casinos!

Sooo... do you see those lines under the canopy?

Those ones!! You can go ziplining from one end of Fremont Street to the other!

Maybe... maybe we'll do that...

We walked up and down Fremont Street and then...

Saw this place... Pinkbox Donuts... our Uber driver had told us that people come from all over to go here! What's it all about?

Let's go check it out!

OK... it's a donut... oops... doughnut shop... big whoop?

Oh yes... big whoop... they have the weirdest donuts you have ever seen! Ready?

A Pooh donut!!! Yes... actually shaped like a big pooh...

And Care Bear ones and peace hand ones and... the fanciest donuts ever.

And a pink pooh monster eating a little bear... who comes up with these photo op ideas?? (Rose does... that's who!).

And yes... one of our group bought a pink pooh donut!!! Ugh!

We then hiked back down Fremont Street looking for somewhere to eat... our Uber driver had mentoned a pizza place so we are on the hunt for that.

The canopy is beary pretty...

Ooooh... a Starbucks in the Golden Nugget!!

Can't we just have a chocolate brownie for lunch? No, eh?

We found a drain cover!!! Beanie will like this one!

We found the pizza place!

It's called Pizza Rock... just off Fremont Street.

The menu is on old record album covers... that's Rose's Mom with the glasses on... We stuffed overselves full of pizza (no pics)...

And headed back out... it's late enough that we can now check into our hotel...

So we found the end of the Fremont Street Experience (Las Vegas Blvd) and caught another Uber...

And got checked in... soooo pooped! It's hot out there!!

A Trip? And I'm going along!!!

N.B. This adventure took place months ago!

Yep, the humans are packing up their suitcases and I am coming!!! I don't even have to stowaway this time... nope... this is a planned-bear adventure...

And I get to ride first class in Mama's backpack!

First... we catch the Hullo Ferry...

Cast off...

We even got the posh upper cabin seats... excellent!

It's so much faster than BC Ferries...

Maybe we are going on a cruise??

Just not that one... which is leaving port...

And... after an Uber ride... we are at Rose's place!! Lexy still seems to think I am a dog toy... sigh.

And yes... we are going on a trip with Rose!!!

Here we are at YVR (that's airport-speak for Vancouver). If, like me, you wonder why most Canadian airport codes start with a "Y"... I found out "Why"!! (Get it... Y... Why...??) 

Anyhow... in the 1930s, when airports were being set up, Canada used the nearest railway station code for them... so in Vancouver it was VR... and then they added a "Y" (for YES) if it had a weather-reporting station as well. So the VR airport was then YVR... Sometimes, you get funny ones like Montreal (YUL) or Toronto (YYZ) and in those cases, it's because the nearest railway station was something weird. Like, for Toronto, it was the Malton railway station with it's YZ code... and Pearson Airport was built near there so... YYZ. And Montreal-Dorval's station code was UL... hence YUL. Just in case you wanted to know...

I even got a hot chocolate at the airport! Yum!!!

Where do you think we are going with Rose (and her Mom) and Mama's partner?? And me!!??

You'll just have to wait and see...

We paid extra for seats with more leg room and as part of the price got... a little bottle of champagne!! So we made a mimosa with orange juice... hic!

I do have to say, this trip is off to a beary good start. I feel like a pretty posh traveller right now!

And here we are... hmmm... pretty dry... are we in Baja?

There are an awful lot of slot machines here!!

We are in Vegas!!!!
