Scrabble Scramble

Hullo blogger pals. This past weekend I helped with a craft project. Mama had bought several second-hand scrabble board games at various points and... there is a plan to make something cool with them!

We bought some magnets and glue to put on the back of the scrabble tiles but... it turned out that the magnets were just a shade to wide... so we went with plan B which was a roll of magnet tape with one sticky side.

Guess we didn't need to cover the table with an old placemat and shower curtain!

Soooo... there are a lot of tiles in one scrabble game...

Let's see... looking for an "S"... and an "A"....

Now I just need a "Y"...

Heh-heh!!! That's my name!!!!

So Mama cut off little pieces of the magnet tape and stuck them on the backs of the tiles and then... kept them under a stack of heavy books to make sure they stick good...

They are under there somewhere...

We made a bunch more words but after a while... well... you end up with a heck of a lot of vowels, a few Z's and X's and... not a lot else! Did you know there is only one "J" in each scrabble set???

But... we have two more boxes!!! Maybe we could open them up too???

That's more like it!!! Have you ever made anything out of scrabble tiles?

    1. Oh yes! Those are beary good words too! H's and Y's also tended to be in short supply so I had to negotiate for some of those. Sigh...

  2. That looks like a great craft project! Can you show the final result?

We got socked with a big blizzard here...not much snow actually, but lots of strong winds and -35 wind chills, brrr, that's even cold for little bears. Luckily, we have a large supply of hot chocolate. Now we just need a fireplace...we keep asking, but the seKretary doesn't seem to think it's possible to install one...

    1. I can show you some of the final results but some of it is top secret... more on that later.

We are in the middle of a winter storm too... buckets of rain! It's a good thing you have a good supply of hot chocolate. Can you imagine if you guys were snowed in and ran out of hot chocolate?? I don't think your Papa would want to experience that...

    2. We don't ever want to think about not having enough hot chocolate...or honey, cookies, salmon...there would be two beary unhappy bears in our house! No one wants to experience that!

    1. It was a beary fun project! There was some debate about making coasters with scrabble tiles but this ended up being more fun. The travel books are a bit of both - some places I've been too... and some not. I would love to go to Ireland... and Greece!
