Mail! and a new Fleece Sweater

Errr... hullo... I have a new sweater but... well... I'm not sure about the colour but then...

Real bears do wear pink!!! And it's got a maple leaf on it...

And a hoodie... which is always good.

Oh, and we got mail from Hammie a few days ago! He was in Bretagne on holidays, and now he is on a Dutch beach somewhere on holidays again... He must have told his humans that he is getting ready to do a performance evaluation!

Indiana Sandy explores another Archaeological Dig

It has been a busy week around our place. Mama was busy working in the garden creating another garden bed along the back fence...

I don't know if you remember... but for the past year, a pile of spare wood has sat on that spot, covered by tarps. What with all the building going on, those wood pieces have all been used up! Finally! It was a bit of an eyesore and a Chinese Triad Rat Gang hangout... but now it's gone!

So, in that blank, grassless space... it was decided to create another bed... perhaps for raspberries! A little bear can definitely get behind that plan. As with most digging projects in our yard, there were, of course, a certain number of archaeological artifacts unearthed.

A bit of rusted chain, a toy screw driver, an action figure, some green handled clippers, a seahorse thingie.... and...

This mysterious object!

Yes... it is what you think it is... a bullet for a rifle of some sort.

I really DO hope that whoever lived here way back when didn't leave any unexploded grenades lying around. Seriously! The way pushes the shovel into the ground... that could end in disaster! I really do not know what to make of the people who lived here previously... cowboy plumber hunters with kids?

A few landscape ties later and... we have us a garden bed!

Now, we just have to root out some raspberries to plant here. It might be a bit late for that - so that might have to wait until the fall... But in the meantime, there are a few flowers looking for a home!

Sherlock Sandy and the Mystery of the Grey Day (Pt 3)

Hello again, Sherlock Sandy here... My blogger pals missed a clue in the second to last photo in the previous blog... Did you see it?

Look beary closely... Do you see? Just around the window of the shed... I think that is a beary faint hint of colour! I wonder...

Oh yes... there is definitely colour leaking under the door of the shed!

My trusty assistant unlocked the door and beary slowly I opened it. Remember last year, we had an infestation of the Chinese Triad Rat Gang in here... I thought we got rid of them but... you never know.

Actually... maybe Mama should go first! Er... I mean... Watson... No?

Hmph... I don't remember Sherlock getting so much talkback from Watson!

Oh my goodness... I see some colour over there.... it looks like it's coming from the bicycle basket!

It's a turtle!!! With a rainbow of colours all around him!

"Oh Thank Goodness you're here! I'm a Rainbow Brite operative and I was just passing through when these horrible rats grabbed me and made me pull all the colour out of this area and straight into this basket. They are such packrats and thought they could keep all the colour to themselves or sell it on the blackmarket or export it to Asia!"

Holy mackeral... for a turtle, you sure talk fast and a lot!
"Well, I am a highly specialized super-turbo-charged operative after all! That's the key you see... people think all turtles are slow and they get complacent when they see me. But those rats were even quicker than I was."

Ah-hah.... those darn rats...

I think it is time for another gang-busting session!

Anyhow... I helped Turbo-Brite Turtle out of the basket and we went back outside...

"It will only take a minute," he said, as he closed his eyes... I could see the colour slowly returning...

Oh thank you Turbo Brite!
"You're quite welcome! But I would suggest you break up that rat gang right quick! I'll put a note on this case file so that other operatives don't get waylaid, like I did."

And there you go... Another case solved by the indubidale... indubitible... unquestionable skill and tenacity of... Sherlock Sandy! (with a bit of help from his friends of course!)

Sherlock Sandy and the Mystery of the Grey Day (Pt 2)

Hullo, Sherlock Sandy here and yes... we are still in the Grip of Greyness!

Spooky is the only one who feels relatively normal...

Although even her emerald green eyes are a distressing shade of... grey. Now... my blogger pals have come up with a few suggestions and clues... so let's see if we can crack this case!

Jerry & Ben suggested that Mama's camera was on a grey setting but after careful examination of the external controls...

and the Menu settings - I determined that her camera has no "Grey" setting. So we can rule out a technical issue.

Droop suggested that I should investigate something called Rainbow Brite...

Hmm... looks like there's a whole organization here!

And a quick look at Wikipedia (just to check if Rainbow Brite was legit) revealed that they have battled the colour-stealers before!! Ooohhh... maybe I need a Rainbow Brite operative to come and help me!!

I set up an online chat with them but they said all their operatives were busy and they had a year long waiting list. Eh? Colourlessness is that common? They even said one of their operatives had gone missing recently. Oh dear!

Alright... well.. Ajdin suggested I find a pack of Magic Crayons and get to work... So let's see what we have...

Hmm... a pack of beary old Laurentian pencil crayons. Do they even make that brand anymore??? They could be from the Middle Ages... heh-heh...

What else do we have? Gosh... everything looks so blah in grey!

Oh... this looks like it might be a set of colour markers but... most of them were dried out. Honestly... who stocks our office supplies anyhow??

Grumble, grumble... OH! What's that...

Ah-hah!! A package of Crayola crayons and...

A pack of Magic Crayons!!! Alrighty then... I take it back about the office stock-girl...

Let's get to work shall we...

Oh dear... I don't think these crayons are going to last very long... I seem to remember there was a lot of green out there!

And what if I colour the flowers the wrong colour and the bees get confused?? I need to solve this case not fix it! Any more clues??

Sherlock Sandy and the Mystery of the Grey Day (Pt 1)

Er, good morning bears and not-a-bears!! Mama came into my bedroom this morning and told me that something was wrong!

I sat up and sleepily rubbed the fluff out of my eyes. Hmm... let's see... I'm here. Ted E. Bear is here. Mama is here. What could possibly be wrong?

And then, as I looked at my beautiful wilderness quilt... I realized what was wrong. Where was all the colour???

Uh-oh!! This is bad... Is it just my room?

Nope... here's Rascal and she's looking particularly grey today...

Oh dear... it's outside too!!

This is serious! Mama was right to call me... This is a matter for... (drum roll please...)

Sherlock Sandy!!!

As any good detective does, I returned to the scene of the first observation.

This is indeed beary serious.

The only one who is looking relatively normal is Spooky... Perhaps she is the culprit? Jealous of all the colour in the world when she has been dealt a black and white body? Although... her eyes are normally green and they are looking decidely grey... so it can't be her.

Hmmm... I must do some research...

Oh dear... even the sky is involved! I wonder if there is a rainbow up there? I wouldn't be able to tell... and that is most distressing...

Research is definitely in order! (That's detective-speak for... don't have a clue!). Er... if anyone you know... saw anything... or has any clues (or ideas)... please leave your comments below!
