Early Morning Adventure

Good morning! Believe it or not, I got to go on an adventure! At a beary dark hour of the morning too.... I think it is 5:15 a.m... and the moon is still up!

We are going to catch the sunrise...

The camas flowers are out and beary pretty!

But a bit hard to see when it is this dark out.

Oh, oh... I think I see some pink starting out east!

The sun is slowly coming up...

So we went to a few spots to nearby to get some pictures of the apple blossoms.

I think early morning light is very flattering for my complexion...

And look, the bunnies are out! Just so you know... bunnies are not native to the island soooo... these are all domestic bunnies that people have released into the wild when they got bored with them. Grrr...

Ohhhh... we drive by this junk property almost every day... it looks quite pretty in the early morning sunshine.

I don't think that old refrigerator was rusty red when it was made...

Whoever owns this property looks like a bit of a metal horder...

It would be neat to explore a bit closer but there are "No Trespassing" signs everywhere!

I love these purple camas flowers...

I'm glad we caught them in the early sunshine!

Let's see what else we can find...

Ohhh... do you see that? Dew on these yellow flowers!

They look sort of like pea flowers but it is...

Scotch broom I think. Which is a legume... so I guess it's related to the peas.

I also came across some old dried out tansy plants with new growth at the bottom...

I looked a bit closer and... do you see it?

There are little snails crawling up and down the old stalks!

This little guy had all his antennae out! Beary neat!

  1. Great photos Sandy! We hope your seKretaries brought along a thermos of hot chocolate!

    1. Thanks guys! It was beary fun although there was no hot chocolate. Mind you, it was an outing, so I don't want to push my luck too far by being too demanding!

    2. Sandy, Jerry says in such cases, 7 little words always do the trick: "Where did I put that seKretary evaluation?"

    3. Good point! I should keep a little notebook in my pocket and take it out at strategic intervals and make little notes in it...

  2. Cool pictures. Did you get to go to Starbucks after sunrise? Scotchbroom is going crazy down here too. Is it an invasive plant in Canada?

    1. Thanks Little Fox. No Starbucks afterwards, but that was OK, cause there was hot chocolate at home. And Scotch Broom is definitely invasive here too! Any open sunny location seems to get taken over. They are so pretty but so nasty. We also have gorse up here, which looks similar but is prickly. Do you have that too?

  3. I like the 6th picture...well actually I like all of them! That is beary early to wake up in the morning, at least for me and my mom. You live in a beary beautiful place! The snails are cool!

    1. Thanks Ajdin! It was beary early for us as well but we managed it. The snails were super neat with their little antennae out!

  4. Washington State seems to be overrun with Scotch broom but not so bad in Oregon. I checked out Gorse online, we have that too. I think you should "ignore' the no trespassing signs and explore the house. If anyone asks tell them you only speak French and since the sign was in English how were you supposed to know? I would love a look inside the old house.

    1. Ignore the No Trespassing sign? Really? You are such a sneaky fox! If I could actually speak French in a passable way, that might work... and Mama is not much better. We could pretend to be tourists or something... Je ne parlais pas Anglais... No Hablo Inglis... Sprechen kein Englisch! I think there are all sorts of neat things in that building!
