Fall Leaves and Memories

Down where I live, we had a beary dry summer so lots of our fall leaves are just brown... but up here, they have some beautiful maple trees!

With a brilliant scarlet colour...

Too bad there aren't more leaves on the ground - I could make a big pile and jump into it!

Ohhh... there is a massive, huge bull cow here... good thing there is a fence between me and him...

Heh-heh... it's not July 1 - but this was too good to pass up.

Well... that was a nice outing but now what... Mama and Gramma are busy so Gramma said I could look through old photo albums!

Oh this is fun...

Heh-heh... are those really pictures of Mama???

There she is with her Daddy and Oma - notice that she has Brumm the big teddy in her arms. Clearly she was a beary good bear guide even when she was small.

Heh-heh... and clearly the cat thing goes way back too!

Now... I have to say, I was a tad confused by all the blonde hair in the pictures - but Mama said that summer was beary hot and her hair was bleached blonde by the sun.

This is more of a normal hair colour... notice Brumm is once more along for the ride. He must have had a beary interesting early life.

Have any of you raided the old photo albums and seen pictures of the early years??

  1. That's a beary patriotic picture of you Sandy. Are you doing any celebration for Canadian Thanksgiving this Monday?

Those cats look like descendants of spooky, have you gotten Spooky's DNA tested to see if they are related?

    1. Thanks Little Fox! Let's see... we are having a big turkey for Thanksgiving. I voted for a big salmon but... when you are outnumbered by humans, your vote doesn't count for much. We are having some people over to help eat the turkey. So in that regard, I am glad we aren't having salmon because little bears don't like to share that... grrrrr...

I too noticed the resmblance between Spooky and those cats... they all came from the same town soooo... I suppose that they could be 10th cousins 10 or something!

  2. Wow those are great photos Sandy! It's clear indeed that your Mama had beary good taste at a young age (although clearly you're the better looking bear, hehe). Thanks for sharing the photos. We'll dig around to see if we can't find some too.

    1. Thanks guys!! I is a beary handsome bear I must say - and much smaller too. I don't think Brumm (the bear in the pictures) would fit in Mama's backpack... I would be most interested to see what pics you dig up!

  3. Sandy,
Does your mom still keep in touch with Brumm the Bear? I know my mom has many childhood stuffie friends that still come to visit from time to time.

  4. Is Brumm living in a retirement center? Is he touring the world? Did he move south to Florida? Inquiring minds want to know.

    1. Beary good question! I am going to have to pin Mama to the wall and see what I can find out. I think this might be a case for Sherlock Sandy!

    2. He might be living in the Bear retirement home. Papa has a beary old teddy he had when he was a boy, and he now lives in the retirement home we go to visit him sometimes. The bears are taken beary well care of. They have an endless supply of honey, lots of arts and crafts and games, and they can come home for a visit whenever they want to. We'll make a post about it after Halloween.
