Of Waterfalls, Ducks and Totems

We were on the big island a few days ago and I got to see a waterfall!

Isn't it pretty? It was beary cold out though - even a bit frosty. I had to hold my breath while Mama took the picture otherwise you would have just seen steamy breath!

There was also a whole pond full of ducks. At first we thought we had already seen the Duck Pond because we saw a pond with two ducks in it. But no... this is the real Duck Pond - there were tonnes of them!

I love the green colour of the mallard heads - almost as green as my favourite winter coat!

And... we saw a bunch of fallen totems. They hadn't actually fallen down - but had been taken down because the wood was getting all rotten. But they were still cool to look at. Do you see me in one picture?

Of course I found the bear totem - he has a big salmon in his mouth... yummm!!!!

And at the top of the totem pole is usually a Thunderbird (Eagle). This one was pretty worn - but his wings were still good.

And there was another totem pole hiding in the bushes - can you see the eagle?? In the summertime, this would be beary hard to see...

  1. We saw some beary beautiful falls near Niagara, they were huge! How about a new Totem pole, with the images of Sandy, Ben, Jerry, Bob, Hammie, Beanie, Buttons, Marlowe, etc.? That would be fun.

  2. Oh, that sounds like a great idea! Usually there's an eagle on top... do we have any eagle pals?

  3. We could put an eagle and a Canadian goose, both! Or maybe better yet, Dilly could be on the top!

  4. Dilly definitely!!! Now we just need someone to draw out the rough draft of what it might look like...

  5. Sullivan has a bird friend living with him! He's called Coco, he has been hiding for years now but perhaps we could persuade him to join us to make a new totem pole?
